Emergency
Department
 |
The Emergency Department
will be relocated into the new wing, replacing the existing 50-year-old
Emergency. It will grow to 18 beds and include:
- A separate soundproof pediatric procedure
room
- A gynaecology room with its own private
washroom
- Separate entrances for ambulance and
walk-in patients
- An isolation room that meets all public
health standards for infectious diseases
- A private triage where patients are
initially assessed.
|
Beds will be configured around two nursing stations to allow staff to
maintain visual contact. This will:
- Improve staff ability to monitor serious (cardiac)
patients
- Decrease number of trips “up and down the
hallway”
The Emergency Department benefits all of the Region:
- Stroke bypass (for access to Stratford's CT Scanner)
- Complex patients from other Hospital Emergency Departments
are routinely transferred to Stratford General Emerg
- Patients throughout the region access Stratford
General's specialists through our Emerg
