Maternal Child

This relatively new unit is patient friendly and modern, however it is full beyond capacity.

  • Designed for 750 births a year, we now exceed 1,000.
  • 48 hour average stay for new moms became a guaranteed 60 hour stay
  • The unit is becoming a “facility of choice” for the region, drawing mothers-to-be from further afield.
  • 1 in 3 babies born in Stratford General are from Perth County outside of Stratford. That's the same figure for our Special Care Nursery. And almost 2 of every 5 paediatric patients come from Perth County...
  • For Mat Child, Special Care Nursery and Paediatrics, more of our patients come from Perth County, than from Stratford.
